How to install an eSIM on iPhone
It takes a couple of minutes. Install at home on Wi-Fi and switch the eSIM on for data once you're there.
Updated
Before you start
- iPhone XS, XR or newer, carrier-unlocked.
- A Wi-Fi connection: the profile can't download without internet.
- The QR code from the email or the order page. If the order is open on the iPhone you're installing on, you won't need it.
Option 1: one-tap install
Works when the order is open on the same iPhone. Requires iOS 17.4 or later.
- Open the order in your account and tap "Install with one tap".
- iPhone opens the setup screen. Tap Continue.
- Wait for the profile to download. It takes under a minute.
Option 2: QR code
You'll need a second screen with the QR code: a computer, or the email on another device.
- Open Settings, then Cellular (Mobile Service on some versions).
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- Point the camera at the code and confirm.
Labels and line choices
After installing, iPhone asks how to label the lines. Give the eSIM a clear name such as Travel.
Keep your own number for calls and iMessage and pick the eSIM for cellular data. Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching, or the phone may fall back to your home SIM while roaming.
When you land
- Settings, Cellular, pick the eSIM and turn on Data Roaming. That's normal for a travel eSIM and costs nothing extra.
- Turn data roaming off for your home SIM so your carrier doesn't charge you.
- No signal after a couple of minutes? Toggle airplane mode on and off.
If it doesn't work
If iPhone says it can't add the eSIM, usually Wi-Fi dropped or the profile was installed before. Don't delete the profile or scan the code again. Message us on Telegram and we'll sort it out together.
